My quest to achieve success for my family and make them proud started at a very early age. I simply could not allow the lack of opportunities in Egypt to define me or stop me from achieving the goals I had set for myself. In 2014, I went on a trip to the United States to visit family and decided to make a stop in Boston. Eventually, I made the decision to move. Moving to Boston was a struggle for a number of reasons, particularly because I moved in the middle of high school. The obvious challenges of moving to a new country, with a unique culture and way of life, were difficult to overcome. But I was certain that if I wanted to truly overcome these obstacles and make Boston my new home, it was only going to be through lending a helping hand to my community. Based on my personality and experiences, Iknew I could prove to be a valuable asset for the entire community of Boston. ARKanum, as the program is known today, seemed like a distant vision but has now turned into a reality, becoming one of the most successful youth programs in the Boston area.
